Abstract. In modern time there are objective difficulties in diagnosing of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD). According to this fact, there is a necessity at improving available techniques or searching the new one. In our research, we used the newest method for diagnosing RRD — the confocal laser scanning ophthalmoscopy (CLSO). Thirty-two patients with RRS underwent CLSO. As a result, we have revealed the new data, which was able to specify the vitreoretinal relationships in RRS: the type of proliferative process (15%), direction and nature of the tractions at vitreous (23%), length of the fixed folds (12%), subretinal strands (3%), the additional retinal breaks (21%). All results were allowed before choosing the extent of surgical intervention. Thereby, CLSO is the valuable technique for visualization RRD, which can help to evaluate more accurately the vitreoretinal relationships in RRD.
