Visual acuity and induced astigmatism after various types of phacoemulsification

Coaxial phacoemulsification was executed on one eye of 96 patients with an age cataract, bimanual and microcoaxial on a pair eye (on 48 eyes). It is shown that visual acuity with the maximum correction without dependence from phaco type is completely restored within 1 month after operation. The average size of induced astigmatism in 3 months after operation was 0.54±0.20 D in group where spent bimanual phaco, 0.56±0.21 D at patients where microcoaxial technique had been used and 0.65±0.28 D coaxial. By the end of the period of supervision visual acuity without correction after microcoaxial and bimanual phaco is authentically above, and induced astigmatism volume is authentic more low, than at use of a coaxial technique (accordingly, 0.81±0.08, 0.83±0.09 and 0.75±0.06, p<0.05). Thus, bimanual and microcoaxial phaco deliver faster rehabilitation of patients after operation.
