Prognostication of post-vitrectomy diabetic vitreous hemorrhages using pattern recognition methods

Purpose. To solve the problem of prognostication of possible post-vitrectomy diabetic vitreous hemorrhages especially demanding reoperations.
Material and methods. Analysis of the treatment of 158 eyes after 20-gauge vitrectomy without silicone oil tamponade for proliferative diabetic retinopathy was performed using pattern recognition methods. All the patients were characterized according to 32 signs related preoperative status only.
Results. Informative sing systems were developed, which had the rate of correct end result recognition over 90%
Conclusions. Somatic condition of the diabetic patient significantly affects the occurrence of hemorrhagic complications after vitreoretinal surgery.
