Impact of tear replacement therapy on evidence of «dry eye» syndrome in children and adolescents wearing contact lenses
The objective of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of dry eye syndrome (DES) treatment in children and adolescents wearing soft contact lenses (SCL) and orthokeratology lenses (OKL). 20 children (40 eyes) who used SCL to wear them during the day and 10 children (20 eyes) who used OKL during the night were studied. All patients showed signs of secondary DES: typical complaints, changes in the Schirmer and the Norn tests, degenerative changes in the cornea. Application of Hylabak 0,15 % eye drops, which contained sodium hyaluronate and were preservatives free, allowed all children to significantly reduce the subjective and objective manifestations of the DES, to improve comfort, and to ease manipulating.
