ABSTRACT
Biomechanical analysis of new theories of accommodation

Three new theories of accommodation were recently developed by domestic ophthalmologists. It was revealed an apparent inadequacy of each of these theories to the laws of mechanics. These new theories of accommodation do not define more exactly and do not develop the classical Helmholtz theory of accommodation, and, in fact, fundamentally reject it in terms of ideas about possible actuators of the accommodation processes and their interactions. It was noted that, despite of the extraordinary originality of such authors scientific guesswork in these new theories, such a superficial research approach, unfortunately does not «expand our understanding of the mechanism of change in clinical eye refraction [6]”, but rather make more difficult practical understanding of the accommodation process in the human eye.
Key words: theory of accommodation, ciliary muscle, ocular hydrostatics, uveoscleral outflow, energy-saving hydro-hemodynamic theory.
