    Economic efficiency of cataract early surgery

    The authors evaluated the direct expenses on the conservative and surgical cataract treatment, basing on the Standards of Medical Help Assistance, Compulsory Medical Insurance tariffs and price list of The S. Fyodorov Eye Microsurgery Federal State Institution of Russian Public Health Ministry and market average prices. The results of investigation show that after 6-9 years after “cataract” diagnosis statement the direct expenses on the conservative treatment start to exceed the analogous expenses on surgical treatment. On the basis of data received the authors recommend to expand the practice of surgical treatment of cataract at the early periods, which will facilitate the improvement of life quality of people in Russia.
