Long-term clinical experience of implantation domestic hydrophilic IOL «Aquamarine»

The article presents and assesses the clinical and functional results of implantation domestic hydrophilic monofocal intraocular lens «Aquamarine» in two years of observation after implantation. The results include a study about 20 patients diagnosed with complicated cataract and operated by phacoemulsification.
51 patients with an average age of 44 to 90 years underwent cataract phacoemulsification with implantation IOL «Aquamarine», regarding the diagnosis: complicated cataract, pseudoexfoliation syndrome. Pre- and postoperative examinations of 20 patients included: visometry with correction and without, autorefractometry, ultrasound A- and B-scanning, tonometry, optical biometry «IOL-master». The optical power of the lens was calculated using the MIKOF / ALF method. Patients were examined at the time: 1-4 days after the operation, 6-8 months, 1 and 2 years later. To visualize the IOL position, to evaluate the anatomical and topographic features of the eyeball anterior segment structures in late postoperative period (6-8 months, 1 year, 2 years), in addition to above survey methods, was used OCT-Visante performing with RTVue-100 device (Optovue, Inc, USA).
Visual acuity without correction and with correction of patients before surgery were, respectively, 0.12±0.12 and 0.23±0.21, in the observation period 1-4 days 0.57±0.24 and 0.68±0, 22, after 6-8 months 0.91±0.23 and 0.97±0.21, after 1 year 0,9±0,2 и 1,0±0,11, after 2 years (n=10) 0,81±0,28 и 0,96±0,19. The parameters of autorefractometry before the operation were according to the spherical equivalent -2.73±4.41, after 1-4 days -1.57±1.75, after 6-8 months -0.5±1.77, after 1 year -0,23±0,75, after 2 years (n=10) -0,1±0,91. Visual acuity was generally consistent with the state of the retina and optic nerve. Specific complications in the application of the IOL «Aquamarine» at the time of observation to 1 week – 2 year was not detected. Based on the analysis of the remote clinical and functional results of implantation IOL «Aquamarine», we can say that this IOL produced by «NanOptic» (Russia) can be used to correct aphakia.
