Relevance. Almost any intervention on the lens involves immediate intraocular correction of aphakia. The most popular intraocular lenses (IOL) models are elastic acrylic hydrophobic IOLs with aspherical optics. For a long time, foreign-made IOLs prevailed on the Russian market. A detailed study of new domestic intraocular optics in comparison with foreign analogues will make it possible to determine their design and technical characteristics.
Purpose. To compare clinical and functional results of a new domestic hydrophobic IOL and a foreign analogue implantation.
Material and methods. Main study group included 38 patients (38 eyes) who were implanted with the domestic IOL NanoCrystal «Citrine» model CCS 13.02.KIT (OOO NanOptika, Russia). Control group consisted of 39 patients (39 eyes) who were implanted with a foreign model of the iSert 250 IOL (Hoya, Japan). Main outcome measures: uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) and best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), spherical equivalent (SE), intraocular pressure (IOP), refractive prediction error (RPE), mean absolute error (MAE), Surgically induced astigmatism (SIA), Tilt, Decentration (Dec). Also, photographic recording of the anterior segment of the operated eyes was performed.
Results. A comparative analysis of UCVA and BCVA after surgery did not reveal statistically significant differences at all follow-up periods. According to the results of the MAE assessment, a statistically significant difference has been revealed in the early postoperative period (p=0.001) and no differences one month after the surgery (p=0.25), as well as further during all periods of observation. The average RPE in the early postoperative period in the main group was +0.83±0.79 D, and in the control, group was only +0.25±0.60 D. This refractive effect is explained by the peculiarity of the Soleko material with a high-water content of 2.9±0.2% («Citrine» IOL model CCS 13.02.KIT). The mean SIA did not differ either at the early postoperative period (p=0.35) or in later follow-up periods (p=0.61 at 12 months). Clinically significant deviations in Tilt and Dec were not detected in both groups.
Conclusion. Clinical and functional results of the domestic hydrophobic monofocal aspherical intraocular lens hydrophobic domestic «Citrine» IOL model CCS 13.02.KIT (NanOptika LLC, Russia) implantation demonstrate comparability with the recognized reference foreign analogue iSert 250 (Hoya, Japan).
