Purpose. To estimate neuro-vegetative status and its influence on accommodation system of eye in children with progressive school myopia.
Material and methods. The study included the examination of 43 children (86 eyes) with school progressive myopia using the method of computer accommodography. According to results of accomodography a visual qualitative assessment was carried out, quantitative indices were calculated: the ratio of accommodative response (RAR); the factor of micro-fluctuations (FMF); the coefficient of stability (CS). For the calculation of RAR and FMF the formulas Developed by Zharov V.V. et al. (2007); the CS formulas Developed by Kechek K.A. method (2014) were used. A complex evaluation of vegetative status was performed including a Determination of vegetative tonus (VT), vegetative reactivity (VR) and vegetative maintenance (VM).
Results. In children with progressive school myopia the VT violations were revealed in 61.1±2.1% of cases, the VR violations – in 92.9±2.3%, the VM violations – in 95.4±3.0%. An influence of vegetative status on activity of accommodation system of eye through its main indices expressed in RAR, FMF and CS was confirmed. Vagotonia, asympathicotonic type of VR and the excessive VM were associated with a tonic contraction of ciliary muscle according to the type of habitually excessive accommodation tension, rarely – a spasm of accommodation. Sympathicotonia, hypersympathicotonic type of VR, and the excessive VM were closely linked to a weakness of the accommodative functions. The highest annual myopia progression gradient indices were registered in children with vagotonia (1.03±0.05D), in case of asympathicotonic VR type (0.97±0.05D) and in excessive VM (0.99±0.05D).
Conclusion.Violations of vegetative status can be considered as a prime cause of accommodative Disorders in case of progressive myopia in children of school age, based on the results of clinical researches.
Key words: school progressive myopia, computer accommodography, vegetative status, accommodative violations.
