Characteristics of ocular blood flow in children with normal hemodynamics and ophthalmopatology
Abstract
Characteristics of ocular blood flow in children with normal hemodynamics and ophthalmopatology

We have determined characteristics of hemodynamics in the orbital vessels of children – normal and with congenital microphthalmos and anophthalmos, congenital cataracts with persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous (PHPV), myopia using the duplex scanning technique in the colour doppler flow mapping regine and pulsed dopplerography. The study revealed hemodynamic disturbances in the ophthalmic artery, central retinal artery, short posterior ciliary arteries. The blood flow velocity was significantly reduced while the resistance index (RI) increased compared with the respective normal values in the ophthalmic artery, central retinal artery and short posterior ciliary arteries in patients with congenital microphthalmos and anophthalmos, congenital cataracts with PH, myopia
Key words: ocular blood flow, congenital microphthalmos, anophthalmos, congenital cataract, persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous, myopia.
