The first experience of using suspension «Vitreocontrast» during chromovitrectomy

Aim: To develop and to prove clinical usage of the «Vitreocontrast» suspension for intraoperative visualization of the vitreous structures and retina.
Materials and methods. The «Vitreocontrast» suspension (ID 9398-017-29039336-2009) was used for contrasting of the vitreous body and internal limiting membrane.
Study of 12 patients (12 eyes) with idiopathic macular hole was performed. Two groups of patients were formed. The criterion for dividing into the groups wasa presence of posterior vitreous detachment. For estimation of the vitreous body and vitreoretinal interface condition the B-scan and OCT were used.
Results. Some specific complications does,nt occur in the post-operation period Macular hole was closed in 11 cases, in 1 was not. IOP was normal in all 12 cases. In 3 month post-op mean IOP was 19-21 mm Hg., mean VA was 0.2-0.7.
Conclusions. Using of Vitreocontrast intrnoperatively allows to contrast the intravitreal structures (canals, cisterns), posterior hyaloid layers of the vitreous body, preoptic, premacular bursa, and internal limiting membrane of retina.
Vitreocontrast using allows to estimate an anatomo-topographical structure of vitreous body for various vitroretinal pathology.
