The paper presents the results of an electroretinographic examination using an original recording method based on a stepwise increase in the brightness of a flash stimulus in order to overcome the shielding properties of hemophthalmos in 60 patients (60 eyes) with and without retinal detachment due to a combat open eye injury. Neuronal electrogenesis was assessed using a general and flicker electroretinogram 30 Hz, a photopic negative response using the standard stimulus of 3cd·s/m2 increasing brightness.
As a result of the study, brightness thresholds were established in patientswithsubtotalhemophthalmos,atwhichthemaximumbioelectricresponse was obtained: in photoreceptors, the retinal cone system — 12cd·s/m2, in bipolar and ganglion cells of the retina — 9 cd·s/m2;insubtotalhemophthalmoswithtraumaticretinal detachment, the maximum bioelectric response in photoreceptors, the retinal cone system was obtained with a stimul us brightness of 14 cd·s/m2, and 12 cd·s/m2 for bipolar and ganglion cells of the retina.
For the purpose of differential diagnosis in hemophthalmos with and without traumatic retinal detachment and to achieve the maximum bioelectric response of the retina, it is advisable to usedifferentlevels of stimulusbrightnessfordifferentretinalneurons: the highestbrightness of the stimulus was used in order I neurons (9–12 cd·s/m2), lower brightness characteristics of the stimulus were determined in order IIIII neurons (12–14 cd·s/m2).
