Purpose. To study results of surgical treatment of glaucoma of children's age with implantation of a drainage of Glautex.
Material and methods. There were 26 children (35 eyes) at the age of 3 months - 15 years. 1 group - 20 children (27 eyes) with infantile glaucoma; the 2nd group - 6 children (8 eyes) with juvenile glaucoma. All children got full ophthalmologic examination. Surgical treatment - a trabekulectomy with implantation of a drainage of Glautex under the general anesthesia/
Results. 100% of children of the 1 group had corneal syndrome, accompanied by corneal edema in 11 eyes (40.7%). It was noted fn increase of the corneal diameter by 1-3 mm more than the age norm, the anterior chamber depth - by 1-1.5 mm, the axial length - by 2-4 mm in 100% of cases. There were associated eye - central corneal opacities (37.5%), iris dystrophy (37.5%), posterior embryotoxon (25%) and others in patients of group 2.
In the postoperative period the relief of corneal syndrome, a decrease in corneal edema in group 1 were noted, in all cases - moderate filtering bleb, IOP - 15,3+0,2 mm Hg. In children 2 groups IOP was 16.2±1.0 mm Hg. A persistent hypotensive effect was achieved in 80% of cases in 12-18 months after drainage surgery. Hypotensive effect was achieved by addition of local antihypertensive drugs in 42.8% of cases, a retrabeculectomy was required after 1.5-2 years in 20%.
Conclusion. In 80% of cases using of Glautex drainage in the surgery of children’ s glaucoma can maintain the hypotensive effect after 12 months later.
Key words: glaucoma, drainage, children
