All over the world there is a steady tendency to increase the number of people with autoimmune thyroid diseases. In at least 60-70% of cases, damage to the thyroid gland is accompanied by changes in the soft tissues of the orbit, which necessitates an ophthalmic examination and treatment.
Рurpose. Тo analyze the effectiveness and results of combined treatment of patients with this disease in «SRCOH named T.I. Eroshevsky» for the period 2017–2019.
Material and methods. Сonducted a retrospective analysis of case histories of patients with endocrine ophthalmopathy who received inpatient treatment for the period from 2017 to 2019. As a result of the work, the effectiveness of conservative and «cosmetic» surgical treatment was determined against the background of hormonal compensation.
Results. In patients stably receiving the above therapy, there is a decrease in exophthalmos, according to the ultrasound of the orbits, a decrease in edema of the retrobulbar tissue and a decrease in edema, the thickness of extraocular muscles, a decrease in IOP of 3-4% from the initial one.
Conclusion. When patients underwent a stable course of conservative treatment 2 times a year in combination with surgical treatment, they noted highly effective stable results, a decrease in the progression of the disease and the manifestation of clinical signs of endocrine ophthalmopathy, and an increase in the quality of life of patients.
Key words: endocrine ophthalmopathy, exophthalmus, Graves disease, extraocular muscles
