    Trachoma. Impact on the development of ophthalmic care in Ufa governate and Bashkiria

    This article deals with the stages of ophthalmic care establishment in Bashkiria and describes the impact of trachoma burden on its development. Trachoma was the primary reason for the establishment of ophthalmic institutions in the region, nonetheless, that could not prevent the spread of the disease across Ufa governate. It was the creation of networks of trachoma institutions in the Soviet era that made it possible to eliminate the disease in Bashkiria by 1960s.
