The goal is to study a set of class I HLA antigens in patients with herpetic eye infection living in the Republic of Bashkortostan.
Material and methods. In 88 patients with ophthalmic herpes, class I HLA antigens on blood lymphocytes were examined in a standard microlymphocytotoxic test, herpes simplex virus (HSV) antigens in biomaterial from the conjunctiva of the eyelids using fluorescent antibodies, levels of specific antibodies in serum to HSV types 1 and 2 were analyzed by immunoassay.
Results. In 26 patients with herpetic keratitis a statistically significantly higher, compared with the control group, carrier antigen HLA-B44 (p <0,05), 20 patients with herpetic keratouveitis – HLA-A28, B13, B51 and B53 (р<0.01-0.05), 42 patients with herpetic anterior uveitis (HAU) – HLA-A26, A30, B44, B49, B51 and B53. The detection rate of HLA-B27 antigen in patients with HAU was only 11,9%. At the same time, adverse outcomes and a more severe course of the disease with the development of complications were observed in patients with HAU in which HLA-B27 was not detected, compared with persons carrying this antigen (p <0,05).
Conclusion. The study of histocompatibility class I HLA antigens taking into account the ethnicity of the patient may be of practical importance for the prevention and diagnosis of herpes of the eye, since universal antigens responsible for the risk of developing herpetic lesions of the eye have not yet been established.
Key words: ophthalmic herpes, histocompatibility antigens of class I HLA.
