Abstract

Ultrasound dissection during femtolaser-assisted extraction of corneal lenticule
LLC “Eye Clinic “Lege Аrtis,” Rostov-on-Don
Purpose. Development of a method for corneal lenticule extraction after femtosecond exposure with the use of ultrasound, which can provide a higher laminarity of dissection and better adaptation of corneal stromal tissue in the postoperative period. The goal is reached by connecting of dissecting tools, for example, a Blum dissector with ultrasonic handle Ozil (Alcon, USA). The resonance frequency of the longitudinal vibrations is 41.0–36.0 kHz, and their longitudinal travel is 0.06–0.1 mm, the torsion ones are 30.0– 34.0 kHz and 0.018–0.09 mm, respectively. The power of ultrasonic exposure is within 30–40%.
One hundred patients were operated using this method. Different methods of lenticule extraction were used in paired eyes: ultrasound and mechanical. There were no complications in any of the cases reported. The postoperative course was smooth and areactive. The assessment of visual functions was performed on the following day and in two weeks after the procedure.
Conclusions. The use of longitudinally-torsion ultrasound during the lenticule extraction after femtosecond laser exposure has been demonstrated to be promising in terms of achieving of a higher laminarity of dissection, and thus a better adaptation of corneal stromal layers and faster impairment of vision acuity in the early postoperative period.
