    Problems of the diagnosis of unexplained uveitis are consecrated in the work. Data are presented on the method of PCR – diagnosis of anterior chamber moisture or a vitreous biopsy specimen, as well as data obtained with laser confocal microscopy of the cornea. Based on the results of the work, it is determined that PCR diagnostics of the vitreous biopsy can be recommended for the identification of the pathogen in severe cases of panoveitis and is not informative in mild cases of posterior uveitis with an erased clinical picture. As an additional method for differential diagnosis of viral and other etiology of uveitis, it is possible to use confocal microscopy of the cornea with subsequent qualitative and quantitative analysis of Langerhans cells. To date, the identification of the causative agent for unexplained uveitis remains open, and there are no precise criteria for the diagnosis of viral uveitis.
